The Genealogy and Local History room at the main library in Rockport holds materials on the history and inhabitants of Spencer County and surrounding counties in Indiana and Kentucky including the Lincoln family. The collection includes:

  • Microfilm of local newspapers
  • Early courthouse records
  • Indexes of deeds, marriages, deaths, wills and probate
  • Early Sanborn maps of Rockport, Chrisney and Dale
  • Census records of Spencer, Perry and Warrick counties
  • Variety of church records and histories including the Catholic Diocese of Spencer County
  • Large collection of Family Files and Histories: family group sheets, census copies, obituaries, or other materials donated or researched by staff.
  • Cemetery records
  • Obituary indexes from Spencer County papers for 1844-2011 and is a continuing work in progress.
  • Obituary Indexes to some Perry county, Warrick county and Huntingburg newspapers.
  • Local Yearbook Collection
