You may be familiar with the new mural in the foyer of the children’s department at the Main Library – Rockport, but did you know that during National Library Week (April 8-14) you can also be a part of the mural project? Children’s librarian, Jenny Sitzman, has begun painting the rest of the mural in the foyer and we want our patrons to be a part of it as well!
Three (3) ways the public can participate:
- Free to patrons (birth-high school) – You are welcome to stamp a flower on the mural in the children’s department hallway. Miss Jenny will then paint the child’s first name next to their stamp.
- Monetary Donation – Patrons will have the opportunity to “own” a leaf on a tree branch with their name painted on it for $25, or the donor may name one of the books painted on the book path for $50. They may choose a title and a name that will be painted on the spine.
- Silent Auction – A silent auction will be available Friday, April 6 – Saturday, April 14 for the four (4) big rectangle “books” supporting the column trees. Bidding will start at $100. The donor may choose a title and a name to be painted on the spine. An auction box will be at the desk and the highest bid(s) will be posted throughout the week. Only the four (4) highest bidders will be revealed to the public.
